Microblading
Eyebrow Microblading is a cosmetic procedure that uses a manual tattooing technique to create fine, hair-like strokes on the skin to mimic natural eyebrow hairs. This technique allows for a semi-permanent enhancement of the eyebrows, creating a more defined and fuller look. Semi-permanent means it is intended to fade over time. Usually lasting three to five years, with results usually starting to fade at about a year post procedure.
Pre Care:
It is always HIGHLY recommended you schedule a face-to-face consultation (virtual consultations are also available). A consultation is vital to discuss details & see if you are a candidate for Microblading. Your Technician can explain expectations to your specific needs. Even if you have had previous Microblading done, it may be a more difficult process to work on your eyebrows.
For your best results, we must aim for minimal bleeding during the procedure. Excessive bleeding is rare but it can compromise the final color & results. Please follow the next instructions leading up to your procedure date. Consult with your doctor if necessary.
5 Days Prior:
-Avoid blood thinning/anti-inflammatory products. This includes NSAIDS, Motrin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, etc.
-Avoid Vitamin B. Includes B12, B Complex, Turmeric, Omega 3's, diet pills, etc.
24 Hours Prior:
-Avoid alcohol
Day of Procedure:
Avoid nicotine, caffeine & energy drinks.
**If it thins your blood or increases your heart rate, don't take it.
**Please consult with your medical professional prior to making any adjustments to your medications/supplements.
What to expect during Treatment:
Your Technician will clean and sanitize the treatment area & begin numbing with a topical cream. Technician will guide you in selecting a pigment color. Technician will draw a brow outline & you will be able to make changes to shape that best suit your aesthetic. This is a collaborative effort. Your Technician will give their professional opinion on pigment color & brow shape, but the final decision is always yours. Once color & shape are approved by you, the Microblading will begin. A sterile handheld tool is used to scrape the skin & deposit the pigment. A second round of numbing is done once the skin is open to minimize any discomfort. Most clients are surprised that pain is minimal during the procedure. Most clients fall asleep! Once procedure is complete, you will see results, but results are not final due to the upcoming healing process. Color & shape may look different. The color is now mixed with blood so it may look warmer. This skin is irritated & may begin to swell so strokes and shape may look off. You will be sent home with after care instructions & product. Entire procedure may take up to 2 hours.
After Care/Healing Process:
After Microblading, it's crucial to follow a specific post care routine to promote healing and maximize results. To achieve your best results & avoid infection, follow these Instructions for the next 30-45 days. Failure to follow these instructions may result in pigment color loss.
Remember that the procedure area is an open wound & infection is always a possibility. Leave area alone & let heal naturally.
• Keep clean. Do not touch the procedure area, bacteria on your hands can cause infection. Avoid animals, gardening or activities that may cause dirt & debris to enter healing area.
• Sleep on your back & on a clean pillowcase. Rubbing on procedure area during the healing process can cause premature removal of scabs/pigment.
• Only if needed, clean with purified water & anti-bacterial soap. Use a clean cotton round to gently dab away any dirt/debris. Do not scrub.
• For the first 7 days, maintain a LIGHT layer of the healing ointment provided to the eyebrows. Apply as needed. Apply with a clean cotton swab (not fingers).
• Avoid all moisture for first 7 days. No make-up, extended sun exposure, sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pools or other water recreations.
• No sweating. Avoid any activities that cause sweat for first 10 days.
• Do not pick at scabs. During healing, scabs will form. Do not rub them off. Prematurely removing scabs can cause uneven results.
• If you experience excessive redness, swelling, tenderness, elevated temperature or purulent drainage from the procedure site, contact your physician. Seek medical care if you are experiencing any signs of infection.
After 6 weeks, you should be completely healed & with your final results. Sometimes a 6 week Touch Up is needed to adjust color, shape or any areas that did not heal properly. Contact your Technician to schedule if needed. Here is an image on what to expect during healing:
Maintenance:
• Always use Broad-Spectrum Sun Screen to avoid fading.
• AHA’s in skin care products (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, etc.) can also cause fading.
• Avoid using lasers, chemical peels & other invasive treatments on procedure areas.
• Per American Red Cross, you cannot donate blood for 1 year after having a permanent make-up procedure.
• A "Touch Up" is a procedure to darken the pigment or make an adjustment to the brow shape. Everyone's skin & aesthetic is different. Depending on skin type, fading can happen faster. Most clients return in a year to darken the strokes.
