Microneedling
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This process helps to improve skin texture, reduce scars, and even skin tone. It is also known as collagen induction therapy, as it focuses on stimulating the body's natural collagen production. Microneedling is considered a minimally invasive procedure with minimal downtime.
Pre Care:
To prepare for Microneedling, avoid sun exposure, retinoids, and active skincare ingredients for at least two days before your appointment. Hydrate well and ensure your skin is clean and free of makeup the day of your treatment. If you have any active skin conditions like cold sores or active acne, it's best to reschedule your appointment. Shave the night before your treatment to help with irritation. Avoid other facial treatments like laser therapy, waxing, or filler injections for at least 2 weeks prior to microneedling. Consult your doctor before discontinuing any blood-thinning medications or supplements, as they can increase the risk of bruising.
What to expect during Treatment:
Microneedling involves using a device with a sterile needle cartridge used to gently puncture the skin's surface. This creates microscopic wounds that trigger the body's natural healing response. If required, your specialist will apply topical numbing cream to minimize discomfort. Depending on your treatment, various ampules may be used in conjunction with microneedling to add benefits to your results. After the treatment, you may experience temporary redness, sensitivity & tightness in the treated areas. Think of a sunburn. You will be sent home with after care products that need to be used in order to achieve your best results.
After Care/Healing Process:
After microneedling, it's crucial to follow a specific post care routine to promote healing and maximize results. This includes avoiding sun exposure, using gentle cleansers and moisturizers, and refraining from using certain skincare products. It's also important to stay hydrated and avoid activities that cause sweating or heat exposure.
Everyone's skin is different so healing may vary. Always contact your skin care professional with any concerns. If you experience signs of infection, consult a medical professional. Here are instructions & what to expect after your treatment:
Day One
-Skin will be red, tender & dry/tight.
-Avoid sun exposure, sweating & keep skin clean. No make up or shaving. Keep hair, hats, cell phone, jewelry, etc. off treated areas to avoid infection/irritation. Drink water & stay hydrated to support your body during the healing process.
-In the evening, wash treated area with cool water only & apply Cortez Nourishing Cream.
Day Two
-Skin may still be red & tender. May experience itchiness, do not scratch or touch.
- Avoid sun, sweating & keep skin clean to avoid infection/irritation.
-Morning: Wash with Cortez Massaging Cleanser & cool water. Followed by Cortez Nourishing Cream. If you will be exposed to sun, use Cortez Sunscreen. Sunscreen can be irritating to skin, wash off if necessary.
-Evening: Wash with Cortez Massaging Cleanser & cool water. Followed by Cortez Nourishing Cream.
Day Three-Five
-Skin may start peeling from day three through five. Do not pick at skin.
-You may return to using make-up, shaving & your regular skin care routine.
-Continue daily use of Cortez Nourishing Cream & Sunscreen to promote healthy healing and skin protection.
Day Six
-This is when you will see your skin benefits start to surface! Improvement in tone & texture. Fine lines & wrinkles may become less visible. Microneedling has now stimulated collagen & elastic production, these benefits will start to become visible in the following weeks.
-Microneedling increases skin cell turn over which may cause skin purging. Skin purging is when conditions such as breakouts, hyperpigmentation, etc., that is under the skin is brought to the surface. This process, though not ideal in the short term, ultimately leads to clearer, more youthful-looking skin as new cells replace the old. Purging typically can begin a week after treatment and can last 2-8 weeks. This is not a sign of a bad treatment. This is your skin responding to the treatment & the process of skin renewal is underway. Purging is temporary.
